Picnic-palooza

Yesterday, we went to two picnics.
The first one was at Raccoon River Park in West Des Moines with the IAUnschoolers group - I forgot to take pictures, but we ate lunch and the kids played on the playground. We met some other homeschoolers - and the bonus was I learned that I DON'T need a supervising teacher this year after all, because Jordan's birthday falls a week after the cutoff! The lady I hired refunded my money as soon as she realized Jordan wasn't 7 yet! In the midst of it all, we fought off a steady onslaught of bees that kept my body in constant flight-mode. I know people probably thought I was a nut-case, but I couldn't help it. Bugs are so NOT my thing!
The second picnic was an Allied/Nationwide event at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park. It was a ton of fun - the kids really LOVED riding the go-carts! Jake (the eternal chicken) wouldn't go at first, but Jordan was thrilled. Once Jake saw how much fun Jordan was having, he decided to give it a try and was glad he did! Jadyn loved them as well, but she was so little, you couldn't even see her over the steering wheel! It was hilarious! She has NO clue that she's such a little thing. They also jumped in a bouncy house and we had a great time meeting Ed's coworkers.
The weather was perfect, but we were all exhausted by the time we got home last night. All in all, a great day!
