Follow Up with a Perinatologist

We have an appointment with a perinatal specialist to follow up and confirm baby Jackson's diagnosis of club feet and rule out any other issues. Since there was some discussion between the ladies doing our first ultrasound about whether it was club feet or rocker bottom feet - coupled with the choriod plexus cyst, our midwife thinks its smart to follow up with a specialist and we agree!
Our appointment is next Tuesday, March 16. We are thankful to be getting more information so quickly.
Please continue to pray for healing for Jackson as well as wisdom for this new doctor!
We are hopeful!

Hi Angela! I just sent you an email. And then came to your blog, that might have been a little backwards, oops!

I'm in the Houston area too but we weren't when Kolby was born. Our tech didn't see his club feet so we didn't know anything until he came out. And then our internet was down when we got home from the hospital. My husband was in school and did all the research from school and my parents were from Cedar Rapids, IA and right away people said, Ponseti in Iowa City is the best.

All the info that you posted is right on, you're on the right track!

Kolby got his first cast at 6 days, recasted correctly at 13 days (that might be wrong) and got recasted weekly for 6 or 7 weeks. Then, the Doctor cut his heel chord, he was put under, our doctor felt more comfortable with that, and then wore that final cast for 3 or 4 weeks. Then, the brace started. He wore that for 22-23 hours a day for a long time. Until he was 7 or 8 months. And then at naps and night until this year. Our plan was to keep him in them at night until he turned 4 but he was doing really great and he outgrew them!

He hasn't had any toeing in or walking on tip toes.

I'll be praying for y'all.

Also, I just posted a post that I began to write last August. It shows the beginnings of treatment. I hope that you find it helpful and encouraging.
