This, That and The Other

It has been an interesting few days around here! We were pretty excited to watch the snow finally start melting this week, after being on the ground for weeks! Then, Friday, we got rain. Which turned into freezing rain. And sleet. And finally...snow. Six to ten inches of it. I wondered earlier in the season when things got cancelled around here due to weather. Now, I know. Since we had a nice layer of ice on the ground before the snow started, it made the roads a MESS! Over 400 church services and activities were cancelled around town today. Including our church. It was a bummer in a way, but we've made the most of an extra free day! Ed's had plenty of time to run his snow blower...
...and the kids have lots of time to just lay around and relax. We attempted a family movie 'night' Saturday afternoon, but then our power went out! While I was baking strawberry bread! UGH! I was planning to take strawberry bread (Ed's mom's recipe) to church today and Ed had his heart set on it, so I went ahead and made some anyway. Yummy!

The kids had to get creative since we were 'stuck' in the house all day. We played LOTS of games, read lots of books, watched TV & movies and played dress up! Dad even got in on the cowgirl action... (hmmm)

While the power was out, we had dinner delivered and ate by candlelight...can't say it was romantic, however. Fortunately, the power was only out for a couple hours. On Wednesday, we got carpet installed on our basement stairs. Even though our basement isn't finished, we decided it was a smart move to protect Jadyn, who tumbles on them frequently. There was enough left over to put some at the bottom too, just in case she makes it that far! Today, we've been busy moving the kids' rooms around. More on that later...

Looks like a lot of fun! Way to make the best of a tough situation. Missed seeing you at church.
