Out of the mouths of babes

Sometimes Jake just makes me laugh. Here's two recent examples:

Yesterday, the kids and I were playing our new game, Blokus. You place different shaped colored pieces on a board and try to block your opponent from playing their pieces. As the game went on, Jake said, "Jordan, you're encroaching on my space!" I nearly died laughing! That's a big word for a little kid!

Today at the post office, I was wrapping up my transaction as Jake was apparently thinking about something. If you've seen Ed's birthday blog post, you saw the picture of him in his little hula get-up. Jake asked what he was wearing and rather than telling him it was a coconut bra and hula skirt, I just told him he was being silly for the picture and wearing a Hawaiian girl's clothes much like he puts on the silly dress up clothes we have in our playroom. He was content with that answer and thought it was funny. Good. Done. Until today. Before we could even walk away from the counter at the post office, he mentions (in a not-very-quiet-voice in a fully-packed post office), "Mom, remember when Daddy was wearing those girl clothes? That sure was funny!" I could hear snickers grow louder as we walked out the door...and I couldn't bear to look back!

That is hilarious! I'll never forget one day when Keaton was about 3, he was yelling at his sister about leaving her stuff in his play area and said, "Micaela, moveall your paraphernalia!" It was pretty funny.
