The happenings of the week

So many things happen in a day, and I always think "I should blog that" - and when I don't it sort of loses its momentum. The kids and I have been enjoying the beautiful weather as much as possible this week, which has left little time for the 'puter! Its been a busy week so far, but that's a good thing. I keep forgetting to buy new camera batteries, so I haven't taken any pictures...bummer.

Ed made it to Houston Tuesday night and my mother-in-law had her surgery yesterday. Everything went well and she is home, recovering.

The kids and I have been hitting our NACD stuff hard in one last ditch attempt to make noticeable progress before our next evals on Monday. I don't know why I always do that, but I do. Then, I spend the next 3 weeks reminding myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Then, with one week left before eval time, the perfectionistic tendencies rear their ugly (and I do mean U-G-L-Y!) heads yet again!
My friend Amy once said that she's a reformed (or was it recovered?) perfectionist. I LOVE that! So, I'm reforming (or recovering) - it gives me something to work towards, and in all likelihood, I won't be satisfied until I've perfected the reforming! Ha!

This week, we've done lots of little fun things. We've been to the library, played in the kiddie pool and sprinkler, made a couple trips to the park, went to ballet, to the mall, out to eat, went to Homemakers to check out their sale stuff, been on walks and this morning we went to a movie! It was a Land Before Times movie at Billy Joe's. It was our first time to go there - and let me just say that place is filthy and stinks! I thought I was going to gag when we first walked in! But, the kids had a great time ... well, Jake and Jordan did. Jadyn has issues. And, Billy Joe's set up provided FAR too much freedom for Jadyn. At a regular theater, she has a confined space in which to squirm and wiggle....I think we'll stick with that for a while!
Last night was the beginning of our summer life group, Alpha. I think its going to be a great time! I'm excited about the people at my table - the Pattersons and the Raridons - and I'm anxious to get to know them better! They both have newborn babies, which is always SO fun!

We're trying to stay plenty busy this week to help us all miss Ed a little less. He'll be home Saturday night and between now and then, we've got more to do!!! Including buying batteries for the camera! Because Sunday morning Jordan, Jake and I leave for Chicago!

OK, so now you have me pondering the difference between 'reformed' and 'recovered'. ARGHHH!!! All I can assure you of is that I have no/ none/ zero desire to have anything in my life be perfect, and I am perfectly content with that. And you can get there, too:)
And I say we go back to filty, stinky Billy Joe's again!

I felt kind of bad when I read your blog because we like to go to filthy stinky Billy Joe's, I love the greasy totally unhealthy menu that they provide. And I always try to sit in a corner (imagine me in a corner) then if Cale wants to walk a little its totally not an issue. If you want to try it again, we're in. It is kind of like McDonalds playland, you just totally sanitize the kids once you leave. Its all good....
