Hot Cocoa, anyone?

Last night, Ed thought it would be fun to take the kids to Starbucks for hot chocolate. Honestly, it didn't sound like a ton of fun to me, but I didn't want to be the 'stick-in-the-mud' - so we ventured inside and found some cozy chairs. The kids thought they were hot stuff. Each got their own hot chocolate. I wish I'd had my camera with me.
Jordan looked so cute, the way she sat in the chair with her legs crossed (copying me), sipping her drink. Oddly enough, she didn't like the hot chocolate! Ed and I were both surprised! So, she switched to water and was just as happy.

Jadyn LOVED hers ... and opted for wearing a good deal of it. We had to snap a picture when we got home! For some reason, she just couldn't get the hang of the cup! Its not entirely unlike a sippy cup - you'd think a two year old could figure it out, wouldn't you? Praise God for Spray N Wash and bleach pens! I'm not sure my kids would have any unstained clothing left if not for those things!

It was a fun trip and the kids were really well behaved! One of my (many) mommy-challenges is keeping my expectations in check. The fine line of expecting age-and-place-appropriate behavior without expecting them to 'act like little adults' (as my mom puts it). Last night, they exceeded my expectations!
It was a great idea, Ed - I'm glad you talked me into it!

That IS a fun idea!! My girls love to have hot chocolate at home...but what they really want is 'slightly warmed up' swiss miss cocoa...consumed with a straw!! Cracks me up year after year!!!
